The General Election in May 2015 will tell us whether the Further Education sector is in for ‘more of the same’. Calls for additional funding, higher teaching standards and greater curriculum choice have been the mantra of the last four years of Coalition government. So what can we expect from the next four years?
The Newbubbles 3rd National Conference for Further Education entitled ‘The Learning Revolution’ presents a compelling opportunity to test what leading politicians and FE thinkers believe should be the next step to FE reform.
Opening the conference debate is Paul Joyce who will comment on the priorities for FE raised in the Chief Inspector’s Annual Report in November and in anticipation of the launch of a new common inspection framework in September 2015. In the forefront of debate will be Professors Frank Coffield and Robert Winston, the country’s foremost fertility expert and TV broadcaster, who will be scrutinising and challenging the claims made by political and FE leaders for a new way of doing FE business post-General Election..
Our audience has been driving the conference agenda from the very start, with today’s important questions dominating the FE airwaves: Is Further Education simply about getting learners into jobs? To what extent are the commercial and creative capacities of FE colleges in synergy? Is the concept of ‘best-practice’ out-moded? Is enough being done to support learners from under-represented communities? What part does new technology play in the future delivery of FE provision? Is our English & Maths strategy for 16-19 learners based on sound education foundations?
An extraordinary line-up of academics, commentators, best-selling authors and FE principals’, alongside former and current senior OFSTED voices, have been gathered together in one room to put Further Education and FE teaching in the spotlight. Presentations, workshops and question sessions ensure that delegates will be able to interact with conference experts and have their say in the Big Election Conversation.
The Conference will be held in London Heathrow on Thursday 26th March 2015. It is hosted by Newbubbles Ltd, a specialist private training provider of post-compulsory education. The event has been created for Senior Managers, Heads of Department, Teacher Trainers, Coaches and Course Leaders seeking inspiration and answers. This is a chance to have a voice about what really matters over the next four years. Let’s welcome in the Learning Revolution.
